So fantastic! Wouldn't this balloon canopy from the Venice Biennale be a crazy, happy thing to have a birthday party under? (via apartment therapy)

Bakfiets Bike

Another contender in the gotta-have-it family bike category is the Bakfiets bike. According to this Portland family, it is pretty easy to maneuver. And I want to copy everything they do because Melissa, Paul, Sam, and August are the cutest family ever, and you can read all about their happy life on their blog All Buttoned Up. They are the reason I've dusted off my sewing machine and baking sheets after twenty years of "not having time" to do the satisfying, charming things in life. Everyone has the same number of hours in the day. Do fun stuff. (via Ohdeedoh)

Family Bicycle

I am craving a sweet European ride--not a car, although these family bikes cost more than my first car. Baby and I want the wind in our hair. But which bike to choose? The Danish transport bike Nihola is 2195 euros and apparently won the honor of being the best three-wheeler out of nine others in tests. Nihola stores are in Berlin, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam, but they deliver all over the world. (via babygadget)

Sew a Bird Mobile

Spool has a free pattern for sewing this bird mobile. The crazy fabrics work so well together and make for a beautiful menagerie. (via Fancy Schmancy)

Home Exchange

Dave and Stasha Ashton turned an escapist fantasy into reality. They packed up their four kids and lived for a year in France by doing a home exchange. Read all about their adventures on their blog. (via Ohdeedoh)

Denim Sailor Shirt

I love this denim sailor top from Kit+Lili with its wing collar and 3/4 sleeves. I love it as much as a person can love a tiny shirt. It is $54 over at Tiny McSmall.

Vintage Children's Books

Find an old favorite to share with your tiny people over at the blog Vintage Kids' Books My Kid Loves, where a new (old) book is reviewed daily. (via Ohdeedoh)

French Posters

Isn't this lovely? It looks like a magazine spread, but this sweet room decorated with French school posters is a real room for a lucky girl. And her mama, Melissa of the blog Sugar City Journal, also sewed a new cover for the tent, turning a bad plasticky cartoony tent into something pretty special. To find the French posters, she says, go to ebay.fr and search for "affiches scolaires." (via Cookie)

Circle Knobs

I love this dresser refitted with wooden circle knobs featured on Rom123, Norwegian design magazine. Love it! (via decor8)

Egg Mushrooms

A fairy tea party wouldn't be complete without these fantastic mushrooms. Eggs and tomatoes have never looked so cute!

Tribeca Play Room

Lukas and Clara must have pretty cool parents. Check out their play room featured in New York magazine. I love the mini Thonet chairs. (via Cookie)

ABC Pop-up Book

Holy supreme ABC pop-up book, Batman! Get ABC3D by Marion Bataille for $14 at amazon.com, and watch their video to see the crazy things they can do with paper these days. (via coochicoos)

Marker Stains

Marker stains don't have to be a disaster. Here, designer Fernando Brizio created a dress meant to be artistically stained, then washed, recolored and worn again. Neat trick and so pretty! Make something beautifully spotty with your little stainmaster. (via designboom)

Publish Your Book

This is fantastic! This is so much better than your average cheesy online photo book publishing. Blurb lets you publish your vacation memories, your art, or even just a journal of baby love. And you can have your book FOR ONLY $12.95. That is a real bound book with 40 pages. Just have a look at some examples and watch their online video to learn how to get started, and you can make something magical. This one is by Sheye Rosemeyer. (via sfgirlbybay)

Carved African Animals

World of Good is eBay's new fair trade branch where purchasing products will have a positive impact on the lives of artisans from all over the world. This set of carved African animals made in Kenya is only $25--and they're way better than anything plastic.

Richard Scarry Revised

Famous children's book author Richard Scarry was something of a partier and a playboy, so it is kind of sad to see the politically correct revisions in the newer books. Kokogiak's Flickr photostream compares the 1963 and 1991 editions of Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever. In this example, "beautiful screaming lady" is changed to "cat in danger." (via Vintage Kids' Books My Kid Loves)

Sidewalk Painting

No mess! Fun and free! A bucket of water and a paintbrush are all you need to unleash your child's creativity on the neighborhood. This photo of sidewalk painting is from Kerflop on Flickr. (via Ohdeedoh)

Cut Paper Art

Artist Jen Stark makes such beautiful work! How can sliced paper be so exciting?! (via More Ways to Waste Time)

Foreign Animals

Yes, French chickens sound different! Click the animals and flags on the website Bzzzpeek to hear children mimicking animal sounds in their countries. (via How About Orange)

Paper Houses

These hand drawn paper houses, made by Julia Rothman, were part of the window display at San Francisco shop Rare Device. They are just so cute with their stands made to look like doors. Wouldn't it be fun to make a cardboard village like this? (via Design*Sponge)

Best Video Ever

Where the Hell is Matt? (2008) from Matthew Harding on Vimeo.

Graffiti Couch

When a single mother of three moved the family into a new home, she decided to let the kids get creative, inviting the whole class over to draw on the furniture. I think it looks cool! And just imagine the deep inner peace that comes later from not worrying about anything getting ruined. (via Cookie)

Snail Pull Toy

This is a cute one, a snail to drag along while the snail carries his colorful ball on his back. The ball can also be played with separately. Nice! Made by Vilac. (via Babygadget)

Dogs Wallpaper

Hi, little doggies. Can I take you home? This dog wallpaper comes from Country Swedish, and where can I put it? In a little cupboard somewhere? (via Cookie)

Blossom Pillow

Little blossoms sewn on a pillow. Isn't that a sweet idea (I should have thought of)? This one is silk and, at $280 from etsy seller emmajanedesigns, a little pricey for babies to lick. But maybe you are handy with a needle. (via decor8)

Little People Class Picture

Oh, the 1970s. Isn't this Little People class picture funny? It is only $14 from etsy seller PlayFamilyHouse. Brother John, you are getting this for Christmas. But since you never read my blog, it will still be a surprise. (via Ohdeedoh)

Animal Tower Growth Chart

Aw! This animal tower wall sticker growth chart is adorable. And it is removable. And it is blue. But you can get it in other colors too for $115 at ferm living. (via Ohdeedoh)

Paper Crown

Creative Closeup has links to 100 free patterns for fantastic toys you can make out of paper from your own printer. My favorite is this crown from the Bavarian Palace bookshop. Royal Bootie is going to love it! (via Apartment Therapy)

Toy Paper Towels

This one cracked me up. They look normal enough, but these are actually little tiny toy paper towels for kitchen and store play. Very cute! Even cuter in German! And very cheap--only 4 euros on amazon.de.

Pregnant Mama Puzzle

Look at this funny thing. If you've got another one on the way, get the point across with this pregnant mama puzzle. Add some layers of wooden pieces and grow a baby in there! It is 18 euros on the Italian site of Eureka Kids toy store.

Cut Paper Art

Etsy seller Jayme McGowan offers prints of her original cut paper artwork for only $14. I especially like the sense of adventure of The Road Ahead. Choose from many whimsical creations or whip out the scissors and craft your own travel story. (via Ohdeedoh)

Crewelwork Birds Rug

Wowie zowie. Anthropologie is selling this gorgeous mantadia rug with wool crewelwork vines and birds of paradise. They also sell the rugs with a black or brown background, and the same pattern is available in curtains and pillows. Wouldn't this rug be fantastic wrapped around a headboard for a tiny jungle expedition every night? The price ranges from $78 to $898 depending on the size.

Cow Wall Hook

Cow face wall hook, I like you. You have kind eyes. Only 13 euros at haseform. (via minor details)

Cut Book Sculpture

Huh? I don't know how artist Su Blackwell does it, but somehow she takes a blade and a book and makes beautiful, sculptural works of art. Maybe you aren't that handy with a knife, but there is DIY project inspiration in here somewhere; I just know it. (via decor8)

Cottage Fabric Playhouse

Cute! The gingerbread cottage from The Little People's Furniture Company sets up like a tent with cotton on an aluminum frame and can be put in a storage bag when not in use. (via Ohdeedoh)

Cherner Child's Chair

I still have my heart set on finding a vintage Cherner pretzel chair for our house. I just love the shape. And now I see that Cherner is coming out with a child's version of their classic side chair design. (via tutus & turtles)

Cardboard Treehouse

I love it! This cardboard treehouse from Creative Toyshop is $25 and comes with pre-cut pieces that are easy to assemble without scissors or glue. Paint it, glitter it, play with it. They also have castles, trains, and even little cars and carriages that would be perfect birthday party favors. (via babygadget)

Indian Print Baby Bedding

Lately, I've been thinking about using different printed saris as curtains in the nursery--just keeping everything else in the room's look calm, and letting the intricate prints and embroideries do the decorating. Rikshaw Design has the same idea with this baby bedding with Indian block prints. A vibrant mix of colors and patterns still comes off as very soothing. (via Project Nursery)

Swedish Boy's Room

I love this boy's room that Swedish photographer Mari Eriksson created for her son Misha. (via Remodelista)
